It's more than just football

After months without a club, Tebogo Tlolane is back on the pitch and grateful for a new opportunity with Leicesterford City. The experienced midfielder endured a challenging waiting period following his exit from Lamontville Golden Arrows, but never lost his belief in his ability. In this interview with Soccer Laduma’s Masebe Qina, Tlolane reflects on the mixed emotions of returning to the game, the mental strength required during his time away and the lasting impact of representing Orlando Pirates. The midfielder also shares his thoughts on derby pressure, the title race and the importance of staying true to yourself in professional football.

One of the agents sabotaged me

Sibusiso Mabiliso’s football journey is difficult to understand. He built a big reputation as one of the best left-backs in the country during his first stint with AmaZulu FC from 2018 to 2021. The 26-year-old defender then made a dream move to Kaizer Chiefs, a team he grew up supporting. When he played 90 minutes in the Soweto Derby win over rivals Orlando Pirates in November 2021, he was the happiest man around. From there, it’s been downhill. What went wrong? Mabiliso opens up in this interview with Soccer Laduma’s Tiyani wa ka Mabasa.

Still InTouch With...TSWEU MOKORO (PART 1)

Tsweu Mokoro started playing football in Sasolburg for an amateur team before joining the renowned Barney Molekwane academy, where he played for three years before becoming a professional. In 2001, he was one of the aspiring players who attended trials at Free State Stars alongside the likes of Jimmy Kauleza, Gert Schalkwyk, Hleza Mofedi and David Radebe under coach Roy Barreto before signing. Mokoro joined SuperSport United during the 2002/03 season and helped the team win two trophies when Matsatsantsa won the 2004 SAA Supa8 and the 2005 Absa Cup. After he was deemed surplus to requirements at SuperSport United, the midfielder joined Ajax Cape Town where he had an unsuccessful six-month stint before joining Moroka Swallows. Mokoro later joined AmaZulu FC before finishing his career with African Warriors in the National First Division (now the Motsepe Foundation Championship).

Is time running out for Sirino?

It has been 18 months since Gaston Sirino signed for Kaizer Chiefs after his release by Mamelodi Sundowns. After 85 goal contributions for the Brazilians, the Amakhosi faithful celebrated the arrival of the 33-year-old as a no-brainer. The Uruguayan signed a two-year contract, which means he is down to the final four months of the deal. Should Chiefs renew Sirino’s contract? How do we summarise his time at Amakhosi so far? And is it time for development prospects to take his place in the squad, or would Chiefs be shooting themselves in the foot to allow the playmaker to depart? Soccer Laduma investigates.

I enjoyed my time there

There are quite a number of players who moved to the Motsepe Foundation Championship from the Betway Premiership this season. This list includes the likes of Keagan Dolly, Njabulo Ngcobo, Veli Mothwa, Vusi Sibiya, Aphelele Teto, Fortune Makaringe and Justice Chabalala. After leaving Chippa United at the end of last season, Chabalala found a new home with newcomers Gomora United, but his journey at the club did not last very long. Towards the end of January, he asked for his clearance from club chairman Joe Seanego and he is now a free agent who is free to sign elsewhere outside the window period. Soccer Laduma's Tshepang Mailwane caught up with the former Orlando Pirates and Free State Stars defender to find out why he decided to leave Gomora.

Petersen's rebirth at Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs are keeping clean sheets for fun this season. After a paltry seven shutouts in 28 league matches last term, few could have foreseen the sort of defensive strength shown this season. Whilst tactics have played a part, as has the improved form of several defenders, one can't overlook goalkeeper Brandon Petersen's dramatic improvement. After 15 league fixtures, he has 11 clean sheets to

Has Man United turned the corner?

Manchester United entered the 2025/26 season following its most disappointing season in the Premier League era, finishing 15th and losing the UEFA Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur in 2024/25. However, despite struggling at times under Ruben Amorim, the new campaign has brought fresh hope and rejuvenation to Old Trafford as the record English champions look to make a return to Europe. Soccer Laduma’s Matthew Petersen looks at how the current season has played out so far, the key players this season and what the minimum expectations will be by the end of the season, with expert insights from former Premier Soccer League (PSL) and Bafana Bafana star George Dearnaley.
