Jamie's Back, With A Bang!
The Non-League Football Paper
|November 17, 2019
TWO years is a long time in football. Just ask Jamie Day. He was Ady Pennock’s No.2 at Barrow when the Bluebirds were humbled by Shaw Lane in the FA Cup and Day could never have imagined where his next coaching role would take him.

But fast-forward to October 2019 and the 40-year-old was stood in front of 80,000 fanatical supporters for a World Cup qualifier between two of the planet’s most populous countries.
Day, now the head coach of Bangladesh, came within seconds of a famous victory over India in Kolkata as the group game finished 1-1.
“That was the best experience I’ve had as a coach,” he said. “The stadium holds 80,000 and it was packed. The atmosphere was something I’ve never experienced before and to silence that crowd for long periods was a fantastic achievement.
“I’ve come from Non-League in front of 200 people on a Tuesday night to standing in front of this amount of people in this stadium in a World Cup game. I would never have dreamed of that when I was at Barrow two years ago.”
