Covid denies stars a fitting farewell
NORTH-EAST goalscoring legend Graeme Armstrong believes one aspect of the impact Covid-19 has made on the Non-League game has been ignored.
The last 18 months has seen the lower-league scene disrupted as two seasons were brought to a premature end by the Football Association.
Those decisions also spelt the end to the careers of a number of experienced players around the country without giving them a chance to say a proper farewell to the clubs they have served so well.
Armstrong identified two well-known north-east NonLeague stalwarts as key examples of players that have been forced into an early retirement by the impact of the pandemic.
“There will be a lot of players that have not been able to control the end of their career or say goodbye to supporters because of Covid-19,” the 37-year-old told
