FC Halifax Town and Working played out an uneventful goalless draw at The Shay in a game where clear-cut chances were at a premium.
Both sides entered the contest in poor league form and Town boss Billy Heath turned to youth in the hope of ending a run of seven games without a win for the Shaymen.
Harry Middleton and Josh Clackstone, on loan from Port Vale and Hull City respectively, made their debuts while Daniel Batty, also on loan from the Tigers, got his first taste of home action after performing well in their 4-2 defeat at Tranmere Rovers.
The home side’s early vibrancy, emanating from the energetic Batty in particular, saw them create the best first half opportunities.
