Striker eager to recapture his best form
DETERMINED Dominic Samuel is convinced Gillingham is the perfect place to get back on the goal trail.
Samuel became the Gills’ ninth summer signing when he completed his move from Blackburn this week, returning to the club where he spent a spell on loan five years ago.
Samuel was a 21-year-old still honing his craft when he banged in seven goals in 25 league games but he returns much the wiser after three years at Blackburn.
He suffered a season-ending ACL injury against his former club Reading in August 2018 and that kept him out for more than a year.
He struggled to re-establish himself last season, playing just 15 times and scoring two goals.
Fit and free to find a new club after his contract ran out, he had plenty of offers on the table. But Gillingham was always his preferred destination, as it moves him closer to his south London roots.
