THE roller coaster has finally derailed. Since Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck announced their shocking split in June 2015 (amid rumors of Ben’s alleged affair with the family’s sexy young nanny and his reported struggles with gambling and alcohol), the couple reunited multiple times in an attempt to salvage their 10-year marriage. But if fans were hoping that Ben and Jen would somehow recapture the magic and proudly go public with the news that they are officially back together, they’re likely to be disappointed.

Sources say that following a recent blowout fight, Jen is finally ready to pull the plug and move ahead with a divorce.“They’ve had their ups and downs and have given it their best shot,” says an insider. “But there’s no light at the end of this tunnel. Ultimately, in my opinion, there are character flaws and differences between them that simply can’t be reconciled,no matter how hard they try.I think Jen, in particular,has come to realize that the marriage is not meant to be.”

As Star has reported, the couple’s relationship seemed to be on the upswing in recent months as the family spent more time together, regularly attending mass at their Pacific Palisades church and celebrating the past holidays with Jen’s parents at their family getaway in Big Sky, Mont.
