Public Inquiry Into Dredging Plans For Lough Neagh
A PUBLIC inquiry has been ordered into a planning application seeking to extract sand and gravel from Lough Neagh. Dredging sand from Lough Neagh has been a long established practice, ongoing for over 70 years without planning permission.
This planning application, which proposes sand extraction by five independent sand trading operators, has now been made due to ongoing enforcement proceedings.
Their application is seeking permission for the extraction of sand from the bed of Lough Neagh within a defined area, south of Ballyronan, for a period of 15 years.
