Winter Of Sam
Bass Player
|March 2020
Sam Bean has played bass in a lot of spooky bands—the Antichrist Imperium, the Senseless, the Berzerker, and Mithras among them—but Werewolves may be his most demanding yet, he tells us
-

My first bass was made out of balsa wood and didn’t even have a brand. I bought it for spare pocket money and played the absolute hell out of it. I stored it in the Berzerker’s basement when I moved from Australia to England, and it was destroyed in a flood along with the piece‘of‘crap amp I played it through.
I started playing bass near the end of high school. I idolized all the evil metal bassist‘vocalists, people like Glen Benton from Deicide or Jan Chris de Koeijer from Gorefest... All the badass singers seemed to come with a bass attached to them. I was also teaching myself drums and guitar at the same time, so I was having a crack at everything.
