April 2017

We spent an evening with the gorgeous star who’s currently juggling movie roles, singing and managing a crazed Instagram fan base... that’s about to get crazier.

After Hours With Shibani Dandekar

What was growing up in Australia like?

I think the major difference would be that life in Australia is very outdoorsy. We spend a lot of time playing sports, swimming, and playing in parks. There’s a lot of physical activity growing up and, of course, the beach is such a huge part of life. Lots of greenery and sunshine help cultivate a really chill vibe. Aussies work to live, so once it is 5 pm, the workday is done and they fire up the BBQ!

Sounds like fun! What’s the biggest difference between you and your sisters, Anusha and Apeksha?

I think in many ways Anusha and I are quite similar, Apeksha and I are similar, and Apeksha and Anusha are similar—when we get together life is just a riot! We are all very strong-headed and know what we want. There are times when if we spend too much time together, we may kill each other, but we also have the most insane bond. Apeksha is probably the most sensible out of the three of us, and the least dramatic!

Talking of drama, of all the career roles you juggle, what’s your favourite?

It’s hard when you live to do so many different things! The best part is that every day is different, and I get to wear many hats—my favourite really depends on the day. But I have to say, I love to sing! I want to do way more acting and, for the record, I’m not a model.

What was your first job?

I’ve had so many jobs, like McDonald’s to cafés and clothing stores. But my first job was selling candy door-to-door for charity. I made 50 cents from every bag I sold.

And what keeps you busy these days?

A bunch of things!
