Design & Build Quality

The Nikkor 14-30 mm f/4 S lens is designed for the Z-series of Nikon mirrorless camera bodies. The outer body is made from engineering plastic, and the build quality is sufficiently good. I found no ‘play’ between the lens and the body, while there has always been some ‘play’ between the lens and the body with F-series lenses. The lens weighs approximately 485 g with its lens hood and is quite small in size. It increases its physical length as it is zoomed out from 30 mm to 14 mm, but the front element does not rotate, making it easy to use a polariser or a graduated ND filter. The filter size is 82 mm, and the lens is made in Thailand.
