In Love With Eric East
ELEMENT
|#19 - The Charm Issue
It's 12 in the afternoon in Singapore under a humid June sky. The man-eating sun hangs high amongst dotted, patchy clouds. He shows up in an unassuming grey t-shirt and beige shorts; a barely existing breeze tussles his hair in gentle strokes; his face glistening with sweat. He pulls out a towel from his bag hugging him from around his shoulders and sweeps it across his face.
"It's so hot," the 25-year-old former adult film actor says. And then he beams a brilliant smile many of us would only dream of seeing in person.
Eric East. A name so familiar it'll take you just three clicks on your mouse to pull him out from your computer folder titled: VIRUS DO NOT OPEN. So familiar that just the mention of his name sends your imaginary (or not) uterus quivering in excitement.
On his first time to Singapore, ELEMENT Magazine got the chance to meet him in person. We also spent the entire day with him. After all, he is one of our HIV Awareness Campaign Ambassador for 2015/16.
ELEMENT: WHO IS ERIC EAST?
ERIC: I am originally from Shanghai. My family brought me to Los Angeles when I was 19 years old. I studied in UCLA majored in Chemistry and tuition fees fully paid by my scholarship. I hold a green card and I love living in Los Angeles now. I am a carefree person and I don't really care how others look at me.
ELEMENT: WHY DID YOU JOIN THE ADULT FILM INDUSTRY?
ERIC: Fame and curiosity at the same time. I was approached by Peter Le when I was 20 years old. I have never regret on this decision of mine. Rather, I see it as part of my life experience. I have left the industry more than a year ago. Since it was in the past, I don't want to look back at it and focus on my future now.
