The Michigan State Grad Is Poised to Make History as Motown’s Youngest Mayor.
It might sound like the typical political spiel, but Myya D. Jones is adamant when it comes to being honest with her supporters. And she’s not exactly a grizzled game player, so this reporter is prone to believe her. The 22-year-old Michigan State grad says candor is key to her history-making run for mayor.
“I’m transparent with people because you have to know that they are telling the truth,” says Jones. “Politicians will ‘politic’ you till the day you die if you allow them to, and if you don’t hold them accountable, they will continue to get away with things they do and deceive people.”
That’s why Jones, who earned her bacherlor’s degree in business management, is running for mayor in Detroit.
