Wonderful And Magical

SCOTT Sinclair has had the perfect start to life in Paradise. Heralded by Celtic supporters with the creation of one of the best songs in football, the winger’s contribution to what has already been an historic season has been impressive from the day he joined the club.

And that was recognised at the weekend when he picked up two honours at the club’s annual awards ceremony – the Player of the Year accolade as voted for by supporters, and the Players’ Player award.

It was a double delight for the Englishman and further confirmation that his decision to join Celtic was the correct one. When he picked up his awards, he stated that it felt like he’s now found a football home.

That feeling began when he signed a four-year-deal with the Hoops on August 7, 2016. Within hours of putting pen to paper, Sinclair pulled on his boots in the Tynecastle dug-out on the opening day of the season and took to the pitch in the second-half of the game against Hearts. It didn’t take long for the 28-year-old to announce his arrival to the Celtic support as he slammed home a Leigh Griffiths cross in the 81st minute to give Brendan Rodgers’ side a 2-1 victory.

As Sinclair wheeled away in celebration, he was engulfed by his new team-mates and throngs of jubilant Hoops fans, and from there, the tone was set. The winger has since gone from strength to strength, scoring 25 goals and contributing numerous assists during Celtic’s best start to a domestic season for 100 years.

While the target-man is relishing a sensational debut season for the Hoops, it hasn’t always been plain sailing in his career, and he joined Celtic following a frustrating spell in the English Premier League with Manchester City, and latterly Aston Villa.
