BEING crowned Glasgow Cup winners last Thursday was a memorable moment in the fledging careers of Celtic’s Under-17 players.

The joy etched across the faces of the Bhoys as they lifted the historic trophy in front of friends and family at Firhill underlined what the success meant to them – and no-one could argue that they didn’t deserve it.

On the big stage – in front of a large crowd and under the spotlight of the TV cameras – they produced a dominant display to overcome city rivals Rangers 2-1 and bring the trophy back to Paradise for the fourth successive year.

It was a performance of both style and substance, with fluent, attacking football matched by a tremendous work-rate, desire and discipline.

And after their stellar showing in the showpiece game, the View caught up with U17 captain Robbie Deas and the young Celts’ two goal scoring heroes – Ewan Henderson and Jack Aitchison – to reflect on their terrific trophy triumph.

 It did feel amazing to lift the trophy even though I did it last year. To lift the cup as a captain was a privilege and very special feeling. It makes me feel even more proud to be here, and I need to treasure every moment with the club and aspire to be like other captains who have lifted it before me.

To do it in front of my family, who have always looked after me and travelled all over the country to support me, was a really nice feeling and it was great to give them something back.
