THERE was a great post on Twitter last week which read, ‘Gareth Bale wears Kieran Tierney pyjamas!’ As well as making me laugh – and probably giving the Celtic merchandise department an idea for a new product – it also perfectly summed Kieran Tierney’s career to date.

Since making his debut against Dundee at Dens Park on April 22, 2015, he has already gone on to establish himself as one of the most exciting young talents in football.

He is now on the verge of making his 100th appearance for Celtic, he’s a treble-winning Invincible, he’s captained the team twice this season, he recently signed a new six-year contract that will see him remain at the club until at least the summer of 2023 and he’s already got two songs which the Celtic fans sing in his honour!

And if that’s not enough, he captained Scotland last week in their friendly match against The Netherlands.

It’s been the definition of ‘meteoric rise’, yet despite all the success which has come his way in such a short time, Kieran Tierney remains a humble and grounded young man, whose only ambition is to wear the Hoops and he works hard every day in order to keep getting that opportunity.

As another Tweet stated last week, ‘Kieran Tierney is 20, playing Champions League football and captaining his country. Meanwhile I still get my maw to phone the doctors for me!’

SCOTLAND’S friendly match last week also saw Callum McGregor earn his long overdue first international cap.
