IT was a dream come true for highly-rated youngster Barry Coffey when he signed for Celtic just over a year ago, and now the Irish midfielder is hoping to make an impact in Tommy McIntyre’s Reserve side.
Coffey bid farewell to his home in Ireland last summer when he signed a three-year-deal with the Hoops, and after making the move up the Reserve squad at the start of the season, the 17-year-old is eyeing a regular place in the Celtic Reserves.
He came on from the bench in last week’s SPFL Reserve Cup 2-1 win over Falkirk.
“It was great to get the minutes in,” he said. “We were 2-1 up and trying to see the game out so I was happy to come on, play my part and help us get the three points.
“It’s been a really good season so far. Since the start of pre-season I’ve been feeling great and I’m in good shape. I have a good few games in the Reserves under my belt. I’m trying to push on to the starting XI of the Reserve team now and get a place for myself.”
