Her dramas have dominated the small screen since her comeback in 2014, but actress HUANG BIREN, who is currently filming new Ch 8 drama Fire Up, only wants to act in one show a year, for the sake of her kids.
-

8 DAYS: It’s good to see you on the set of Fire Up today. Can you tell us more about your role?
HUANG BIREN: I play a gangster who has been to jail twice. There’s a scene where I am in prison, and it was quite scary and tough [to film]. I was locked up in a tiny, enclosed space and I had to sleep on hard concrete tiles. It’s my first time acting as an ex-convict, and it was a brand new experience.
Your shows Three Wishes in 2014 and Tiger Mum in 2015 were the top-rated dramas of their respective years, and The Dream Makers 2 (2015) won Best Drama Serial of the year. Despite your seven-year hiatus, viewers have not forgotten you and love watching you on TV.
When I took on those dramas, I never thought that they would be the most-watched dramas of the year. I usually choose my dramas based on the roles and my schedule. For example, I took on this role in Fire Up because it’s very interesting. It also fits in with my schedule as my kids just finished their exams in end May, and I could afford the time.
