• WALLPAPER. If you want to go bold, put a pattern on the wall. If you do this, though, make sure the surrounding items, such as curtains and furniture, have a solid color to balance the space.

• CURTAINS. Draperies are one of the most classic ways to integrate a pattern into your home. Like wallpaper, though, you won’t want patterned curtains against a patterned wallpaper. Choose one or the other to be the statement in the room.

• AREA RUGS. Don’t forget the floor! Area rugs are a good place to add not only pattern, but texture. If you decide to go with a patterned wallpaper, choose a solid-colored rug with lots of texture to maintain that balance of patterns and solids.
