Architects Seema Puri Mullan and Zarir Mullan’s new project in Ahmedabad is an ode to contemporary palatial living

THREADING TOGETHER luxury, convenience and comfort, architects and interior designers, Seema Puri Mullan and Zarir Mullan are known for creating homes with intricate detailing and thoughtful details. Their new project is a magnanimous bungalow in Ahmedabad, that completely envelopes you from the minute you step in. Set amidst an idyllic setting, a water body with an impressive art installation welcomes the visitors, with a soft chime of bells.
While the entrance wall in grey stone contrasts beautifully with the copper cladding, the bamboos add softness to the transition between stone and metal. The design is seamless and each space effortlessly cascades into the other. ‘Every private and public space creates a continuous dialogue with the verandah and the garden, which is a refreshing sight. This creates a sense of serenity which permeates all through. I believe that your home is your haven and it should first soothe the senses,’ explains Zarir.
The entire home shares an interesting bond between the interior and exterior spaces. ‘To make the spaces more engaging, certain elements, like the verandah outside the living room with its vertical lantern wall, was enhanced with stone cladding while the passages connecting the rooms were made interactive by opening up external walls and creating sculptural panelling along a few,’ says Seema.
