For Mumbai-based Tiya and Ranjeet, their energetic home reflects their growth as individuals and as a family.

A sunflower-yellow securit floral vines and fleur de lis, glows beacon-like at the entrance to Tiya and Ranjeet Thakur’s Mumbai residence. Priyanka and Piyush of PS Designs, who charted and executed the interiors, reveal, “Tiya and Ranjeet wanted a space filled with textures and colours. They wanted the earthiness and energetic colours of Goan homes.” Tiya reveals that after 13 years of moving in and bringing up two kids, Saisha and Michael, it was time version 2.0 of the house. It had to be a fresh and a more articulate reflection of their growth as individuals and as a family.
Guided by PS Designs, the couple created a spacious, colourful home, filled with photographs and their collection of knick-knacks. “See, my husband and I love bright colours. In fact, that was on top-of-the-list in our brief to Priyanka and Piyush. The earlier avatar of the home had vibrant-coloured walls. This time a sombre version of those colours, along with textures, have been expressed through fabrics and wallpaper,” says Tiya.
The lime-plaster textured walls of the living room are a gentle foil for the colours, grains and patterns via statement furniture pieces, accessories and flooring. Tiya was very sceptical about the choice of a busy pattern for flooring, in a compact 3-BHK. However, Ranjeet was convinced that the choice by PS Designs would work. Sure enough, the printed tiles across the home, excluding the bedrooms, complement the lime-plaster walls.
