Brand Story MOLTENI&C
Livingetc India
|December 2019
A journey scaling eight decades, commencing with a 22-year old young protagonist —who launched his small business, with skilled hands and dreams in his heart.
-

The brainchild of Angelo Molteni, Molteni&C began as an artisanal venture in 1934, in a workshop at Giussano in the Italian province of Brianza. In the initial post-war period, Angelo made furniture starting from the trunk and covering all the production phases. Today, Molteni is a world-class brand for top-quality furniture and a diverse portfolio which includes Molteni&C, Dada Kitchens and Unifor.
THE JOURNEY
After World War II, furniture by Angelo Molteni developed fast. By 1947, it was less of a workshop and more of a factory and the workforce of the Giussano business numbered over 60 people. In 1955, Molteni took part in the first “Mostra Selettiva – Concorso Internazionale del Mobile” in Cantù, with Swiss architect Werner Blaser’s design, which won the first prize: The chest of drawers, with a 3-fork geometric joint, was the foremost embodiment of a modern piece of furniture.
