MY JOURNEY
GROWING UP IN RURAL RAJASTHAN where many communities carry on their traditional ways of dressing, I was drawn to the aesthetics of the rural folk. My mother had a keen interest in traditional textiles and took me with her to all kinds of textile centres. I remember spending many days in the village of indigo dyers in Akola, Rajasthan.
STUDYING AT NID, AHMEDABAD, further opened a world of possibilities. I started to see textile design from a different point of view. The inherent beauty and skill behind a traditional technique are what shaped the ideology behind my work. Design to me means working within the discipline of the techniques, at the same time exploring the possibilities within.
