Improved efficiency for how we heat our homes is available thanks to new EED Lot 20, a new legislation under the Energy Efficiency Directive which states that all local space heaters manufactured for sale within the EU which use electricity, gas or liquid fuels, must comply with a minimum efficiency standard. The aim of the new legislation, which was introduced on 1st January 2018, is to rule out inefficient technologies and reduce the energy used by the products that currently heat our homes. Switching to Lot 20 compliant heating products will help us to achieve our carbon emissions reduction targets and is a step toward a greener, more eco-friendly Ireland.
