Fran Payne found her perfect garden on the way to her son’s school. It was 2017 and she was living in a one-bedroom flat with her husband Michael and their two young boys while refurbishing the large but dated south-west London house that is now their family home. ‘I knew exactly the mix of contemporary and period features I wanted for the interiors, but I’m no gardener and I didn’t know where to start with the outside space,’ says Fran.
