Close-panel timber frame
This modern chalet-style home has replaced the 1960s property that previously occupied the site. Keen to create an energy-efficient property built from healthy construction materials, the owners approached Baufritz to design, fabricate and erect their dream home. They worked closely with architect Peter Cox on the plans, which had to be amended several times to meet local planning requirements.
The basement level was provided by Glatthaar Fertigkeller, while the rest of the house is formed from Baufritz's thermally efficient closed-panel timber frame system. Once the construction components were delivered from the company's factory in Germany, it only took three days for the superstructure to be erected. The firm also handled the project management side of things once the subterranean level had been completed. The total build cost was £1.2 million.
Digital construction
Situated within an area of outstanding natural beauty, this sleek, contemporary home was delivered by Facit Homes. "Rather than offering a range of standard options and large panellised systems, our unique digital and manufacturing process means we can both adapt existing designs for construction or offer a completely bespoke solution," says Bruce Bell, founder and CEO of Facit Homes.
