Omar Khan adds wow factor to any room with ease; his is a name well known in the world of rug design. We speak to the interior, furniture, and rug designer to find out more about his work!

H&D: What are the methods or techniques used in rug design?
O: Our rugs are hand tufted, but I also have a range of machine-made rugs for contractual projects. I like to meet the person I’m designing for to bring out their personality. But when it comes to my main collections, I always have the following themes I add to: botanical, contemporary, geometric, and abstract. I like to call them the wild cards, which end up being our most dramatic heroes of the season.
H&D: How do you choose the material to work with and where do you source them from?
O: We work with the finest quality wool from New Zealand as well as bamboo silk.
H&D: Given a small and empty space to work with, devoid of colours, which rug would you incorporate?
