With the rise of super-swish at-home cocktail lounges and exquisite wine rooms, who really needs to head out?

Raise The Bar

Actor and man of style, Stanley Tucci, addresses the camera in an Instagram post from October 2020: “I’d like to make you an old-fashioned, would you like one?” And just like that, The Devil Wears Prada star unleashed a cascade of swoons across the internet. The world wasn’t beguiled merely by Tucci’s debonaire date-night moves, but also by the downright lust-worthy home bar that stages his seduction. Oh, the fluted glass, the dirty teal joinery, and the glowing undershelf lighting that makes his crystal decanters twinkle. Suffice to say, we can’t get enough.

After a year of cancelled plans, we’re taking date nights and catchups into our own hands. As Terri Shannon of Bloom Interior Design says, “More people are entertaining at home and most of our clients have dedicated bar spaces on their lists when we meet them.”

With a few modern style enhancements, the dusty old wine cellar is maturing into the highly coveted wine room. Less sizable but just as fun, kitchen nooks and pockets of living and dining rooms are transforming into intimate cocktail bars, stocked with all the essentials for entertaining. Want one? We know you do.
