The Softer Side Of Metal

Steel reminds me of a woman – soft and sensuous. Softness is that one quality that sets a woman apart from the man and somehow, steel reminds me of this particular attribute. That it is malleable and ductile.

I started working with steel in 2004. This was for my first collection ‘I went fishing’. And that’s when I discovered that I could make delicate flowers in steel with the same ease as I could a solid tree. As I played around with the metal, I found it fascinating how I could turn something as industrial as stainless steel sheets, pipes and cables into beautiful objects of art.
