As Diwali comes closer, the time is just right to give your home a festive makeover. Here’s a quick guide on decorating for the festive season!

Dress Up & Celebrate

Be it, the off-white paint in the living room that is wearing off, or your bedroom wooden furniture that craves a layer of lacquer, or those bottle green silk curtains you’ve been wanting to buy for months. Now, is the time!

The festive season becomes an excellent excuse to introduce some healthy changes to your home decor and interiors. While you are fixing your home for the season, we offer a few tips to usher in the festive vibe. The right mix of colours, materials, fabrics, and accessories, with a touch of spark is what makes a home stand out.

Here are a few tips from the experts in the art to get you going.

COLOUR COORDINATED, are you?

Everything in the house can be colour coordinated. Interior designer Richa Bahl who has designed for the likes of Alia Bhatt and Kangana Ranaut, says, “Colours need to be used to bring to life what’s around. For example, a beautiful hibiscus flower alongside a yellow of turmeric brings a perfect dash of colour to the puja thali. We have to celebrate our colours in unique ways rather than using them in an obvious way.”

Renowned architect Shobhan Kothari of ADND & KDNS Studio says, “Colour is synonymous to the Indian culture as all our festivities are vibrant. A simple use of colour to highlight a wall or for that matter a coloured upholstery change can uplift any room instantly. Use of colour need not be restricted to walls and upholstery, you can introduce colour in all aspects of your home.”
