Moving homes is tough, moving from a spacious bungalow to a compact apartment is even more so. Architect Rasneet Anand designs a functional and warm home for her parents to make the transition in style

After five decades of living in a sprawling bungalow in Khar, Mumbai, architect Rasneet Anand’s parents shifted to a compact apartment in Santacruz, Mumbai, and she was tasked with making the transition a seamless one. For Rasneet, the challenge was designing a narrative that emulates the openness of a bungalow within the boundaries of a 1,450sqft space. While the unspoken challenge was in capturing the essence of homecoming in this new pad.

GROWING UP IN A BUNGALOW MADE DECADES BEFORE MY TIME, I WANTED TO DESIGN A HOME FOR MY PARENTS THAT ALIGNED THEIR INDIAN-STYLE INCLINATIONS WITH A MODERN OUTLOOK.
