Architect Catja de Haas designed her family home in the countryside with sustainability and flexibility in mind
The picturesque landscape around Chichester Harbour has a feeling of familiarity for architect Catja de Haas. It’s not just one of the most beautiful parts of the south coast, but the flatlands here are a reminder of her early years growing up in Holland. When Catja, husband Philip and their children decided to move from southwest London to the countryside, West Sussex was a natural choice.
‘We eventually found this setting on the edge of a little village, where we can see out towards the harbour,’ says Catja, who runs her own architectural firm, Catja de Haas Architects. ‘I do feel very much at home here.’
