The legacy of the De Havilland Aircraft Company of England founded in 1920 by Sir Geoffrey De Havilland relates to some of the more iconic aircraft ever to emerge from Britain including the legendary DH 82 Tiger Moth Bi- Plane powered by the famously reliable 120hp Gipsy Engine.

This dual tandem seat trainer earned an enduring romantic notation but was the forerunner to aspirational aviators looking to rise within the ranks of military and commercial aviation.

During the early years of corporate aviation when comfort depended on style, often the sought after light multi engine aircraft was the twin engines DH Dove, or the larger four engines DH Heron engineered to perfection with inverted Gipsy Moth engines.

Back in 1928 the De Havilland Aircraft Company of England diversified its manufacturing operations. A subsidiary airplane company in Canada was incorporated into the De Havilland fold.

The consequence of that move was that DH Canada became the most accomplished aircraft designers in Canadian history.

In the post war era, De Havilland Canada aircraft were proven as excellent machines suited for conditions typical of the Canadian northern regions and were especially noted for Short Field performance across harsh, rugged terrain and also amphibious operations.
