New Kid On The Block - Reel Fly Lines
The Complete Fly Fisherman
|August/September 2018
This issue: We test two new fly lines on the local market.
-

Up for testing this month are two REEL Fly Fishing fly lines, the 3-wt Nymphing and 5-wt Perceptive, both in weight-forward floating tapers. These arrived in cardboard boxes which contained the lines and some product info. The lines were not spooled onto a plastic spool as is normally the case, the reason being that REEL feels that its products do their bit to conserve the environment by not making use of a plastic spool – plastic being a major pollution factor not only in the oceans but our environment in general. While a laudable idea and a cause we fully support, this did make it more difficult to spool the lines onto their respective reels. We think a cardboard spool may help solve the problem and still support the conservation drive.
