David Beckham had it made as a football icon. But retiring like Beckham still takes a little getting used to. When he decided to call it quits, French team Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) had won the Ligue 1 championships in 2013. Toward that end, the most commercially successful British football player of all time joked that he relished not “having to get up to train every morning.” And grown men who plastered his Manchester United posters on their dorm walls in the 1990s shed a tear. His career at Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, and even AC Milan reminisced.
