Surjit Athwal was a 27-year old mother from Coventry when she travelled to India in December 1998 for two family weddings. Mysteriously she never returned home.

Police initially believed her husband and mother-in-law's story that she’d run off with another man, and her disappearance was simply filed as a missing person case.

But Surjit’s brother, Jagdeesh Singh, was convinced that Surjit had been murdered. But without a body there was very little to go on…
