They say Corrie’s the soap that gives us comedy, but there’s none of that warm northern wit coming Leanne Battersby’s way. She’s already lost one son to an incurable illness, and this week she discovers the other one is a drug dealer.

The truth comes out thanks to young Sam, who last week witnessed Simon and dodgy pal Jacob assaulting a lad. He initially keeps quiet, but Nick smells a rat when his normally genteel little boy has a meltdown at school and hurts another child, and his suspicions pique when Sam bolts from the cafe on seeing Jacob. Grilling the youngster, Sam reluctantly reveals what he saw.
