A US marshal teams up with a canine crime-solver in a sequel series to the classic buddy-cop movie

NEW COMEDY DRAMA
Turner & Hooch
From Wednesday 21 July, Disney+
Tom Hanks and a slobbery but savvy French mastiff were a crime-fighting force to be reckoned with in 1989’s Turner & Hooch. Now, an action-packed sequel series on Disney+ looks set to weave the same magic.
The 12-parter (a new episode will be released weekly) sees Josh Peck as ambitious, highly organised US marshal Scott Turner Jr, the son of Hanks’ original cop character.
As the San Francisco-set series begins, Scott Jr is trying to come to terms with his dad’s recent death, but is stunned to learn his father has bequeathed him another large, irrepressible French mastiff – named Hooch in honour of his predecessor – in the hope they can enrich each other’s lives.
‘Scott’s a career man, he wants to become a chief with the US marshals, he’s chasing bank robbers, protecting judges and helping with witness protection – but he’s lonely,’ Peck, 34, tells TV&Satellite Week via video chat. ‘Then Hooch comes into his life and disrupts it in a beautiful way.’
