Jason Segel plays Dakota Johnson’s supportive pal in the moving true story of a young mother with cancer

In 2015, American journalist Matt Teague wrote a raw and emotional article about his wife Nicole’s diagnosis with terminal cancer at the age of 34.

Now the heartbreaking story has been turned into a one-off drama – with Casey Affleck as Matt and Dakota Johnson playing Nicole – which sees the couple’s life with their two young daughters torn apart by tragedy.

When Nicole’s health starts to deteriorate, Matt’s responsibilities as carer and parent become increasingly overwhelming, and the couple’s best friend Dane (Jason Segel) offers to lend a helping hand. As Dane puts his life on hold to move in with his friends, the film explores the nature of friendship in the face of terrible adversity.
