Emotional Rescue

The Canadian countryside already provides the stunning backdrop to Sky Atlantic thriller Tin Star, and now its picturesque mountains and lakes are the setting for more family drama in Netflix’s new series, Northern Rescue.

The 10-part series stars William Baldwin as widower John West, who moves from Boston with his three children to start a new life in Canada as the commander of the local search-and-rescue service after the death of his wife.

As the family struggle with their bereavement and adapt to their new surroundings in the fictional Turtle Island Bay, the kids’ aunt Charlotte (Kathleen Robertson) helps them come to terms with their grief as she also tries to deal with the death of her sister and her desire to have a family of her own.

Baldwin, 56, says the show is action-packed, but will also appeal to fans of dramas such as This Is Us and Brothers & Sisters.
