Showrunner Terry Matalas teases this year’s time-travel shenanigans in 12 Monkeys.

Monkey Business

Time is running out for the human race in 12 Monkeys, the TV series inspired by the Terry Gilliam movie about a plague that wipes out the majority of mankind. In 2043, a group of scientists, led by Dr Jones (Barbara Sukowa) recruited scavenger James Cole (Aaron Stanford) to “splinter” back in time, prevent the enigmatic organisation known as the Army of the 12 Monkeys from unleashing a deadly virus, and somehow save the future – a mission made all the more difficult by the fact that each attempt to alter the past creates new obstacles and dangers.

Season two ended with the shocking bombshell that the Army of the 12 Monkeys’ mysterious leader, the Witness, is actually the adult child of Cole and virologist Cassie (Amanda Schul). So when 12 Monkeys returns for its third season, the stakes have never been higher – or more personal – for Team Splinter.

“Months after the finale, Cole has been scouring the future looking for Cassie,” executive producer Terry Matalas tells Red Alert. “Cassie has been spending a lot of time with the Army of the 12 Monkeys.”

Cole’s initial concerns unsurprisingly surround Cassie’s immediate whereabouts and safety. However, there’s still the Army of the 12 Monkeys’ impending apocalypse to thwart.

STRANGE JOURNEY THE STORY OF ROCKY HORROR

“I loved every minute of it,” says Tim Curry of filming The Rocky Horror Picture Show in 1974. Barry Bostwick has another take: “I was wet and miserable most of the time.” The one thing they do agree on, however, is that the result was a milestone in cinema history.
