A fresh take on Children Of The Corn will once again unleash adolescent-led retribution

Field Of Screams

FONDLY REMEMBERED BY MANY as a blood-curding shocker, the original 1984 big-screen adaptation of Stephen King’s novella “Children Of The Corn” featured a memorably chilling opening, where children unleash a murderous kinder surprise upon unsuspecting adult customers in a café. Despite the remainder of the film largely leaving critics lukewarm, this anti-adult horror tale was financially successful enough to spawn a staggering, if increasingly dull, eight-sequel series (plus the obligatory remake).

Now a new film is on the way. Don’t worry if you haven’t seen the previous entries though – they had little narrative continuity anyway.

“This adaptation runs from the wellspring, the river that Stephen King created with his original story. We ignored the prior movies entirely,” producer Lucas Foster tells Red Alert, regarding the recently wrapped, lockdown-defying reinterpretation, which was shot in New South Wales, Australia.

Headed by Equilibrium and Ultraviolet writer-director Kurt Wimmer, it features (alongside its child cast) such recognisable genre stars as Callan Mulvey (Russian terrorist Anatoli Knyazev in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice

STRANGE JOURNEY THE STORY OF ROCKY HORROR

“I loved every minute of it,” says Tim Curry of filming The Rocky Horror Picture Show in 1974. Barry Bostwick has another take: “I was wet and miserable most of the time.” The one thing they do agree on, however, is that the result was a milestone in cinema history.
