Now an extensive GLOBE investigation has located the famous Mercedes-Benz S280, even as investigators uncover conclusive proof the car was tampered with in an effort to murder the People’s Princess.

The mangled vehicle is hidden away in England, where British officials acting on Charles’ orders have had the wreck under guard since the violent Aug. 31, 1997, crash that killed Diana’s rich boyfriend and the driver!

Incredibly, the car’s French owner, Jean-Francois Musa, who runs Etoile Limousines, has been trying to get the Mercedes back for nearly two decades. But at the urging of Charles, the British government REFUSES to return his property.

“It’s legally mine!” declares the Frenchman.

But Charles is trying to send the Mercedes to the crusher! The Prince of Wales is facing a summer trial by military tribunal for Di’s murder. He fears the new brake evidence will be used in court and wants to destroy proof he masterminded the assassination plot.

“Charles is panic-stricken,” says a royal insider. “If he can’t have the car, and the brakes, destroyed — he’s doomed.”
