ANNIE Leibovitz is one of the world’s most high profile photographers. Working for magazines including Vanity Fair and Vogue, she’s famous for her big-budget celebrity portraits of major contemporary figures in the arts, politics, business and sport. Her shoots are often big productions, and she reportedly charges between $100,000 and $250,000 per day for advertising work.

She was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, in 1949. Her father was a lieutenant colonel in the US Air Force, and the family moved frequently. In 1967, Leibovitz began studying art at the San Francisco Art Institute, and took up photography the following year.
