Matthew Gray Gubler - Smooth Criminal

A près-ski with Criminal Minds’ smart and sexy Matthew Gray Gubler.
-

Has anyone mastered the art of multihyphenation like Matthew Gray Gubler? His résumé reads more like a bucket list: Wes Anderson intern; fashion model; Wes Anderson actor; Criminal Minds star; indie horror film star; painter; voice of Simon in the Alvin and the Chipmunks movies; director; social media sensation … and so on. Watch! got the chance to ask Gubler about all of it during a break in shooting Criminal Minds, and the 35-year-old actor kindly obliged with life tips about everything from hanging out with Bill Murray (take him to a restaurant) to sneaking into a haunted house (pose as a buyer) to having a dance-off with Joseph Gordon-Levitt (don’t do it, full stop).
Watch!: You’re shooting Season 11 right now?
Matthew Gray Gubler: We’re like five or six episodes in. Every season’s great, but it’s going spectacularly well so far.
Watch!: Did you ever think the show would go this long?
Gubler: I always have low expectations and high hopes for everything. Like, I’m basically just psyched if I don’t die over the course of the day! [Laughs.] So I never expected anything other than a sweet opportunity to entertain people. I was so naive going into this that I thought every show that shot a pilot went on to become a giant success for a long time. So when it got picked up, I was like, “Of course!”
Watch!: Walk us through a typical day off from work.
