Making Your Garden Wild And Wonderful
Devon Life
|April 2020
As he gears up to bring his special festival to the county once more, gardening writer and broadcaster Toby Buckland offers up some tips on making your garden that bit greener

PLANT A TREE
Trees gather carbon from the atmosphere and lock it into their woody stems. They also share it with fungi in the soil, locking it into the ground. Not only that, they create wildlife superhighways, connecting gardens together and providing natural homes for insects and birds. Even if you plant just one, you’re doing some good.
RE-WILDING
Re-wilding has got a lot of heat around it the moment. It’s basically allowing nature to run its course without human intervention, as at the famous project at Yellowstone National Park in the United States (where wolves have successfully been reintroduced), Knepp Estate in West Sussex and now in our backyard, at the new Devon Sculpture Park on Haldon.
