Tracy Spiers took a trip before lockdown to one of England’s most beautiful towns

This is no ordinary day, month or year and as I write this, what was normal, is no longer. However certain things stay the same such as a town’s beauty, setting, and history.

Henley-on-Thames is considered one of England’s most beautiful market towns due to its plethora of interesting architectural gems. Walking in the fresh air and admiring what is around is positive we need to hold on to. If and when life returns to the normality we knew, we will have a fresh perspective and appreciation for each other, the towns we live in, and the traders who serve us.

So as I write this piece on Henley, I do so to highlight its fantastic heritage, one that not even a deadly virus can destroy. I am just grateful that I took a trip to this lovely town – or rather hop with a fractured heel - before the country went on lock-down.

BEAUTY WINNER

Henley-on-Thames, a regular winner of the RHS Britain in Bloom medals, is one of England’s most beautiful towns. Indeed, the Times recently voted it as one of the best places to live in the English countryside. It has a perfect riverside location and is surrounded by a landscape of wooded hills and green fields and locals must have been finding huge solace in it during this unusual time.
