TEST KITCHEN INSIDER

Ask Sarah

WHAT ARE THE BEST FOODS TO COOK IN AN INSTANT POT?

The multifunction cooker is one of the hottest kitchen-gear trends to hit the market in recent years. But not everything is a perfect fit for the popular countertop appliance. Here’s what we most love to make in it.

Meat/Poultry

Look for fattier, tougher cuts of meat such as pork shoulder, beef chuck roast or corned beef, which will come out moist and tender when cooked properly. Leaner, thinner cuts of meat like boneless pork chops or cubed tenderloin tend to dry out more easily. For chicken, boneless, skinless breasts and thighs will cook in as little as 6 minutes! And yes, you can put frozen meat into the multicooker—it will just need a few more minutes of cooking time.
