At the 71st Monaco Red Cross Ball Gala in July 2019 (above), Charlene was the picture of good health. The former Olympic swimmer was once nicknamed “The Benoni bombshell” when she competed on the international circuit. She is now known as the “sad princess”.

It’s been months since Princess Charlene jetted off to her native South Africa in May before being struck down with a “severe sinus infection” that left her unable to fly home to Monaco. But after sharing new images of herself, there are grave fears that the former Olympic swimmer, 43, may be hiding a worrying secret.

After posting photographs to Instagram in early October, Charlene sparked concern over her health as royal watchers pointed out her “thin arms” and “hollow cheeks”. “You look so frail, please take care,” expressed one well-wisher on social media.
