For its 12,000th episode, Y&R scripted the grand wedding of Phillip “Chance” Chancellor IV to Abby Newman, a union that brought the show’s three legacy families — the Newmans, the Chancellors and the Abbotts — together in one room. It was a rare occasion for putting old hurts and long-running rivalries aside to create a deeply moving and entertaining event.

Of course, Abby’s drama took place on the big day when she suddenly decided she was a relationship curse and locked herself in the bathroom. Neither the maid of honor (Mariah) nor mother of the bride (Ashley) could coax Abby out as she blubbered, “I am the person that rode a horse through the athletic club while I was stark naked. I mean, does that sound like somebody that makes good decisions?”
