Hurled into the spotlight with a soft Shor In The City, Saibo’s music composer duo SACHIN-JIGAR have definitely swept the audience with a feeling of Raabta. Their signature style beams folk fusion and that’s precisely what makes their par excellence compositions the Hero of any film. Khushboo Tiwari meets with the musical jodi no. 1 to know about their Issaq with music, the industry and more…

Since I hadn’t ever been to a studio, I was a little hesistant yet excited to visit one. It was an opportunity to sneak into the life of the leading musical duo who have been ruling the Bollywood music Bhoomi. Jee Karda, Raabta, Saibo, Samjhawan are just a small number of compositions created by the pair. The value of music in their life is pretty evident and so is their inseparable bond. Here’s the conversation with the Gujju boys who have their listeners on the edge all the time, with the music Any Body Can Dance on.
The world knows it was Amit Trivedi who got you to meet each other. But what keeps your bond thriving even after 12 years?
Sachin - It’s purely music - the passion and love for music. We are more than our work but of course, what’s keeping us together is music. Our worlds are different including the kind of music that plays in our respective cars, but a lot has been exchanged over time. Our work relationship has diluted, we are there for each other more than just making songs, we are a family. We are united by music and perhaps gujju food.
Jigar - Yes, what keeps us going and growing is our work.
How was your first break in Bollywood like?
Jigar - It’s been a good six years since our first break so I don’t even remember how I felt back then. Our first song Char Baj Gaye was a blockbuster. Although, I don’t think we had a big Bollywood entry rather we entered quite subtly. We weren’t introduced by a big film but we are glad that our music did what it had to do and not anybody else. And it’s just been a journey ever since.
